One Holland Village
2-Bedroom Condominium / Holland Village, Singapore
A couple and their beloved Beagle share this cosy two-bedroom apartment at One Holland Village. Although the home was brand new, they wanted something that felt more personal than the standard palette and finishes provided by the developer.
Working with a modest budget, we focused on a few considered interventions that could change the character of the apartment without rebuilding it entirely. Soft pastel walls bring warmth and colour into the home, while the walls of the common bedroom were removed and replaced with glass panels framed in a deep maroon-brown. The transparency allows light and views to travel through the apartment, making its compact footprint feel considerably more generous.
In the kitchen, the existing configuration was adapted rather than replaced. A terracotta-coloured countertop introduces warmth and extends beyond the kitchen to form an informal dining counter, complemented by plum-coloured accent tiles.
The clients' own pieces add another layer of personality to the home, including a custom hand-carved headboard made in Indonesia. Together, these small but deliberate changes transform an otherwise standard new apartment into a warm, colourful home that feels distinctly their own.
